The Marrakech Regional Council of Tourism (CRT) was established on October 4th, 2002, to bring Marrakech into line with the new organizational scheme and shore up the implementation of "Vision 2010". The destination, however, has long been prepared:

Goals of CRT Marrakech: :
Contribute to the consolidation of a regional vision of tourism and the establishment of a regional development plan.
Encourage tourists’ fidelity so as to increase the overnight-stay average from 3 nights to 5 nights in 2006 and 7 nights in 2010.
Balance the visitors’ mix and the nationality mix.
Optimize per-visitor spending.
Innovate in the niche tourism sector, including eco-tourism, wellness and fitness, (Spa) tourism etc...
Integrate Tourism in the city through the animation of trades and citizens' involvement..
Promote the destination and ensure a superior way of communication at the national and the international level through a sustained image policy.
Encourage the Classical Tour Operating with special emphasis on consolidating more profitable new niches:
Incentives Congress Seminars: Conventions Palace, conference hotels, specialized companies, airlines -> collectively initiate international conventions (have the tools, organize defined visits).
Golf & Fitness: The 3 golf courses in Marrakech, fitness centers, specialized agencies (participate in trade fairs, federate operators and organize targeted promotions with the Moroccan National Office of Tourism--ONMT)
Ecotourism: The producers, specialized agencies -> promote products in specialized trade shows, create sales tools, build packages, create CPT Al Haouz to carry out and implement the policy.
Developing the strategic axis Marrakech - Essaouira:

Marrakech and Essaouira make together an exceptional twin product. An integrated promotion and marketing policy, along with the product “Culture & Health Resort," can offer a package with a premium added value in the international markets—a package that is unique around the Mediterranean.

Developing rural tourism :

At the level of the provinces that have potentials and human resources, natural and cultural, notably by way of encouraging tourism investments in the provinces of Chichaoua and Kelaa des Sraghnas and making elected officials and professionals aware of the need to launch Tourism Promotion Councils (CPTs) like the CPT of AL HAOUZ.

The Region at the heart of tourist events:
This magnificent region remains the preferred venue for many events linked to the tourism sector

January 10, 2001: meeting in Marrakech of the National Tourism Board and signature of the Framework Agreement Program for the period 2001-2010 entitled "Tourism: a vision, a challenge, a willingness" between the Government and The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) under the actual presidency of His Majesty The King.
December 2001: the 1st International Forum of Tourism was held at the Conventions Palace.
December 12, 2004: meeting of the 2nd National Tourism Board.
2 to 4 December 2005: Essaouira has hosted, in turn, the 3rd meeting the Tourism Board.
Local authorities headed by Mr. the Wali of the region, elected bodies and professionals are all mobilized to host and help make high-profile events a success, which consolidates Marrakech position as a 1st tourist destination in the Kingdom.
